About

On behalf of Governor Justice, the State Workforce Development Board provides direction to the West Virginia's workforce system on workforce development issues, particularly those pertaining to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. The board is comprised of a majority of business leaders. Other members include legislators, local elected officials, workforce partners and representatives of community-based organizations. Members of the board are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Governor.

Mission

​​West Virginia’s Workforce Development Board is the Governor’s agent for the development, oversight, and continuous improvement of West Virginia’s workforce development system. Members col​​laborate to provide state-level coordination and integration of federal and state workforce development policies and strategies with a goal of creating a more job-driven service delivery system.​
